Summertime Fun, Right?

I've been out of work for almost a week now for summer break. Yay! So, I've spent most of my time at home catching up on things that haven't gotten done for a while, such as cleaning. After a few days of staying at home, I noticed a pattern of myself cleaning up multiple times after my dogs. Needless to say, spending all day with my dogs has started to drive me a little crazy. They follow me everywhere I go in the house and are constantly under my feet, all while making lots of doggie messes around the house that I have to go back and clean up. I can only imagine that this is a small sample of what being a mom to a child would be like. As I have been practicing being mommy to my dogs over the past week, I had to take my brown, furry son, Gunner, to the pet hospital yesterday. For the past week he has had multiple swellings on his sweet, little face. I assumed it was from allergies. I wasn't too concerned because this happens at this time every year, but what made me worry so much was that this year his reactions seem to have gotten worse. One night we almost took him the the vet when he was gasping for air. He finally caught his breath and everything seemed better, but what happened the next day had me worried even more. His poor little eyeballs had become swollen. At the time, Derrick was at work and I had no choice, but to take Gunner to the vet by myself. I was very upset and found it hard to compose myself when I went into the vet to tell them why I was there. I was definitely a worried mom. The vet checked him out and it appears that Gunner has really bad allergies this time of year. They gave him some medication and he is much better. There is no more swelling on his face and that makes for a happy mommy! I think I learned a lot from this experience that I can carry over when Derrick and I have our little girl. My motto from this experience is to stay calm and carry on!
