Thanksgiving 2016

A Not So Funny Tale About Thanksgiving Day 2016, but It's All Good

It was Thanksgiving morning and I was planning on getting ready to head to my grandmother's house who always makes the most delicious food. A meal large enough for at least 30 guests or more, even though there are only 13 of us. So, I was scrolling through my messages to find what time I was suppose to be at my grandmothers, when I realized that we were not going to meet for another two days! As I began to process what that meant for our family, Derrick said: "Well I guess we have to make our own meal today." As panic set in I started telling him there was no way possible that I could plan and cook a meal at the last minute! I told him that people spend days preparing and planning for a Thanksgiving meal. I don't even know how to cook let alone cook an entire Thanksgiving meal!! In a whirlwind and continued panic I threw a few ideas together and as I made a mad dash out the door I told Derrick that we would be lucky to find any Thanksgiving food left at the store, let alone a turkey to cook. God must have believed in me because they had the perfect sized turkey (4 pounds) for us. I came home and still not knowing how to cook a turkey looked it up on the internet. Believe it or not it was the best turkey! All the other side dishes came out pretty darn good too. I know it tasted so good probably because of all the butter! I was super proud of myself and I did it all before Derrick had to go into work! I suppose I work best under pressure!
